Some 2012 Ford Explorer vehicles equipped with the 2.0L gasoline turbocharged direct injection (GTDI) engine and built on or before 8-17-2011 may exhibit a MIL on, with DTC P1289 (cylinder head temperature sensor CHT circuit high) and/or P1290 (CHT sensor circuit low) stored in the PCM memory.

Reprogram the PCM and TCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 74.05 and higher or 75.01 or higher. Calibration files are available at
