This bulletin applies to BMW vehicles equipped with a turbocharged N20 or N26 engine.

This bulletin applies to BMW vehicles equipped with a turbocharged N20 or N26 engine (example: 2016 528i xDrive) where smoke from the exhaust is noticed when starting a cold engine. The smoke may be present for 10 to 20 seconds.

When the vehicle is parked overnight, the engine oil pressure will equalize and may leak past the turbocharger exhaust side turbine seal.

Replace the engine oil feed line to the turbo using P/N 11 42 8 648 368. The new oil supply line will incorporate a check valve on the engine side of the engine oil feed line that will eliminate the engine oil pressure equalization via the turbo exhaust side turbine seal.
