Porsche Cars North America notes that the coolant temperature sensor is being needlessly replaced on 2011-2014 Cayenne vehicles.

Porsche Cars North America notes that the coolant temperature sensor is being needlessly replaced on 2011-2014 Cayenne vehicles. The display may indicate implausible coolant temperature (temperature too low or no temperature displayed). Fault code P3081 may be stored in the digital motor electronics (DME) control unit. The incorrect coolant temperature display, and the fault code entry are caused by a software error in the DME.

In the event of a complaint, a software update must be installed for the DME using PIWIS Tester II. The required software 027 (VR12.1) is available in PIWIS Tester II, version 7.800 or higher.
