There may be debris in the Reverse or Neutral shift buttons of the shift by wire (SBW) shifter assembly that’s causing them to stick. Typical debris are particles in the shift button or sticky residue from something that spilled. Check for debris. Particles can be removed with tweezers or a vacuum. 

Toyota provides cautions when installing an automatic transmission/transaxle to avoid MIL-on, shifting issues and/or transmission damage and has a list for consumers to confirm on their Toyotas. 

This bulletin applies to 2019 Chevy Corvette, 2019 Silverado, 2018-2019 Camaro, 2018-2019 Colorado and 2018 Express vehicles, equipped with the 8L45 or 8L90 automatic transmission.

Chrysler is recalling certain 2019 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine.
