Pep Boys Names Winner in Mustang RTR Sweepstakes

Oct. 14, 2019

David Myers of Southington, Ohio, won a custom-built 2019 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2 car in the recent Pep Boys and Pennzoil Mustang Giveaway Sweepstakes.

The new Mustang, a $1,000 Pep Boys prepaid card and more were presented by World Champion Drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. at a Pep Boys Cruise-In car event Sunday, Oct. 6, in Matthews, N.C.

Myers, a 21-year-old serving in the U.S. Army, attended the celebration and received the grand prizes.

“This has been a completely unbelievable experience from the moment I heard I won until now to receive this amazing Mustang from Pep Boys and Pennzoil, and meet the Formula Drift Champion himself, Vaughn Gittin Jr.,” Myers said.

The 2019 Ford Mustang RTR was designed and customized by Vaughn Gittin Jr. Motorsports and includes a full array of aggressive upgrades from custom tactical suspension components to exterior elements like custom designed body armor, head-turning exhaust and custom wheels – all track-proven and validated by Gittin. The celebration and the opportunity to meet Gittin helped attract dozens of cars to the Pep Boys Cruise-In event.

“At Pep Boys, we understand that a car can be so much more than just a car,” said Dave Dissinger, director of Pep Boys Speed Shops. “The giveaway and our relationships with Vaughn Gittin Jr., RTR Motorsports and Pennzoil captured the energy and spirit of the automotive industry and extended it to David Myers, a deserving fan who is serving our country.”

“At Pennzoil, we embrace every opportunity to share our passion for performance vehicles,” said John Chiborowski, North America Influencer Manager Grassroots/Motorsports, Shell Lubricants. “We are proud to have been a part of this sweepstakes and to be able to celebrate with our winner alongside Pep Boys and Vaughn Gittin Jr.”

The Pep Boys Mustang RTR Giveaway, powered by Pennzoil, was an online sweepstakes that ran earlier this year.
