Acura is confused

This TSB applies to 2009-2010 Acura TL models. The MIL may illuminate with DTC P2118 (throttle control system) stored. The PCM misinterprets ETCS (electronic throttle control system) inputs as a malfunction.

The corrective action involves updating the PGM-F1 software with the HDS. Note that HDS software version 2.022.104 or later must be used.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Update the PGM-1 software with the HDS.
  2. Start the engine. If DTC P2118 recurs, this TSB does not apply. Continue with troubleshooting. If the DTC does not appear, the repair is complete.
