This TSB applies to 2007-2008 Nissan Maxima (A34) and 2009-2012 Maxima (A35) vehicles. If you confirm that the vehicle has low power at 0 – 40 mph, with normal power above 40 mph, and no DTCs are stored, the most likely cause is an issue with the ABS/VDC wheel speed sensors/signals (sensor, wiring or debris on sensor/rotor).
A weak or erratic output signal from a wheel speed sensor can cause poor performance or lack of power from a stop or at low speeds.
Perform “line graph” diagnostics on each sensor while driving. Inspect and repair as needed for any sensor with a spike in the output signal or that has a different value than the other sensors.
Do not replace the TCM or CVT unit when repair of a signal from a wheel speed sensor will resolve the issue.
