Porsche pumps

Feb. 24, 2014

This TSB applies to 2005 to present Boxster, Cayman and Carrera vehicles. Test results for coolant pumps supplied with damage code “leaking” that were returned to the Warranty Test Center were found to have traces of coolant residue, but a subsequent function test has shown that almost all of the coolant pumps that were designated as leaking were actually fully functional and were not leaking.

The visible coolant residue on the coolant pump housing seems to have prompted unnecessary coolant pump replacement. The presence of slight traces of coolant residue on the coolant pump housing is not an indication that the pump is leaking. Before replacing a pump, Porsche notes tat if traces of coolant residue are dry and there are no apparent drops forming, there is no need to replace the pump.
