Lexus zero point calibration

June 2, 2014

The purpose of this TSB is to provide information on when and how to perform the zero point calibration on a vehicle equipped with VSC (vehicle stability control) following a wheel alignment. This applies to 1998-2009 and later Lexus ES, GS, GX, IS, LS, LX, RX and SC models.

Momentarily disconnecting the battery is a necessary step for performing the zero point calibration. Perform the following whenever a wheel alignment adjustment is mad or when any chassis components have been removed/installed or replaced.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal for more than two seconds.
  2. Reconnect the cable to the negative batter terminal.
  3. Perform the applicable zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor and/or the steering angle sensor, referring to the repair manual.
  4. Re-initialize all applicable systems available on the vehicle (power window, sunroof, power lift door, etc.).
