The purpose of this TSB is to provide information on when and how to perform the zero point calibration on a vehicle equipped with VSC (vehicle stability control) following a wheel alignment. This applies to 1998-2009 and later Lexus ES, GS, GX, IS, LS, LX, RX and SC models.
Momentarily disconnecting the battery is a necessary step for performing the zero point calibration. Perform the following whenever a wheel alignment adjustment is mad or when any chassis components have been removed/installed or replaced.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal for more than two seconds.
- Reconnect the cable to the negative batter terminal.
- Perform the applicable zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor and/or the steering angle sensor, referring to the repair manual.
- Re-initialize all applicable systems available on the vehicle (power window, sunroof, power lift door, etc.).
