This bulletin applies to 2020 Jaguar XF, F-Pace, I-Pace and XE models. When the EPB (emergency park brake) is applied, it may not release. The EPB applied light is not on. The ABS, DSC (dynamic stability control) and brake warning lights are on. The “Autonomous Emergency Braking not available” message is displayed.
This is caused by a software error. The fault will occur if the transmission is in neutral and the ignition is turned off. The ignition is off for a period of 15 minutes or longer. This means that if the driver is making a series of short “Neutral IGN off stops” without the vehicle going to sleep in between, when the stop time adds up to 15 minutes the fault will occur.
In order to clear the fault, the vehicle needs to go through a sleep cycle as follows:
- IGN on.
- Transmission in park.
- IGN off.
- Exit the vehicle and lock it.
- Wait 15 minutes before re-entering the vehicle.
