This bulletin applies to 2017 Ram 3500 and 2500 trucks equipped with Man Shift-On-The-Fly transfer case or electric Shift-On-The-Fly transfer case. The bulletin involves inspecting the left front brake hose and wheel speed sensor wire harness.
Some customers may notice a low brake fluid and/or ABS warning indicator illumination. The technician may find one or more of the following DTCs set:
- C0031-1D (left front wheel speed sensor – circuit current out of range)
- C0031-2F (left front wheel speed sensor – signal erratic)
- C0031-62 (left front wheel speed sensor – signal compare failure)
- C0049-7B (brake fluid – low fluid level)
Using a scan tool (wiTECH) with diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs or symptom conditions other than those already noted are present, record and repair as needed before proceeding.

Raise the vehicle. Check if there is 15 mm or less clearance between the left front brake hose and the high point of the front axle pinion flange. If clearance is 15 mm or less, check for any signs of the propeller shaft rubbing on the left front brake hose or wheel speed sensor.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- The reduced clearance is caused by the wheel speed sensor jumper harness, twisted around the brake hose. Removing the twist will correct the issue. Remove the four jumper harness grommets, from the retainer clips.
- Reinstall the four grommets into the retainers, starting with number 1 as shown in the illustration. Install the remaining grommets in order, 1, 2, 3, 4 and workout any twist in the harness.
- If the brake hose has rub marks, replace the brake hose.
- Check if there is more than 15 mm clearance between the left front brake hose and the propeller shaft. Bleed the brake system and clear any DTCs.
