This bulletin applies to 2015 BMW 320i xDrive vehicles. The customer may complain about a grinding or cracking noise when placing the transmission in gear, and a “Drive Disturbed” message may be displayed.
A metallic grinding or cracking noise heard from the rear of the vehicle when selecting Drive or Reverse indicates that the inner and/or outer universal joint on the right and/or left side output shaft has failed, requiring shaft replacement.
