Ram Air Suspension

Jan. 14, 2020

This bulletin applies to 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks equipped with Auto Level Rear Air Suspension and involves reprogramming the ASCM (air suspension control module) with the latest available software.

Customers may experience a MIL on. The technician may find one or more of the following DTCs set:

C220C-48 (active suspension module internal-supervision software error)

C211B-92 (ignition run/start input-performance or incorrect operation)

C156C-7A (ride height system air leak-fluid leak or seal failure)

In addition, the customer may describe excessive operation or noise from the air suspension system when the vehicle is stationary, “air suspension disabled” message when attempting bed lowering mode (BLM), excessive compressor valve cycling following a cold start (diesel only), erroneous “Bed Low Achieved” message through the instrument panel cluster when requesting lowering, even though the truck did not lower, and/or ride height changes/valve actuations without operator request on rough roads.

Using a scan tool, verify that all systems are functioning properly. Record and repair any issues before proceeding with reprogramming. Install a battery charger to prevent the battery from dropping below 13.2 volts or rising above 13.5 volts.

Reprogram the ASCM with the latest software. Detailed instructions for flashing control modules using the wiTECH diagnostic application are available by selecting the application’s HELP tab. Clear all DTCs that may have set during reprogramming.
