Bosch Automotive Service Solutions has released new Robinair brand R-ID (#16990) and R-ID Plus (#16995) Refrigerant Analyzers, which allow technicians to quickly and accurately determine the refrigerant purity of a vehicle’s A/C system.
Robinair has released three new air conditioning (A/C) refrigerant capacity database cards that help ensure vehicle systems are charged with the correct amount of oil and refrigerant, per OEM specification.
This bulletin applies to 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The A/C system may be inoperative or may lose charge. This may be caused by a weld issue inside the service port on the liquid side. This condition is difficult to diagnose since the A/C gauge set (when connected) will cover-up the leak point.
Owners of 2013 Chevy Spark vehicles may comment on the A/C blowing warm air intermittently out of the ducts when driving at highway speeds and more noticeably on longer commutes with high humidity.
Automotive A/C systems, once a stand-alone and relatively simple design, have evolved and continue to evolve, offering greater efficiency and reduction of atmospheric pollutants.
This bulletin applies to a host of Acura models including 1997-2003 CL, 2013 ILX, 2013 ILX Hybrid, 2001-2012 MDX, 2007-2013 RDX, 1996-2012 RL, 2002-2006 RSX, 1999-2006 RSX, 1999-2012 TL, 2003-2012 TSX and 2010-2012 ZDX.
This bulletin applies to 2013 Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with a 1.4L engine and the C635 manual transmission. The customer may indicate that they feel an A/C engagement bump during acceleration when ambient temperature is above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, along with a lack of power.
Some owners of 2013-2014 Cadillac XTS vehicles may comment on the SES (service engine soon) light on. Upon inspection the technician may find DTCs P0097, P00F4, P0113, P2229 and/or P0102 set.
This tip applies to all Honda models equipped with air conditioning. If the left dashboard side vent is warmer than the right side with the A/C on, chances are the evaporator core isn’t being flooded with enough liquid refrigerant, causing it to fully vaporize halfway through the core.
According to Honda, if you’re troubleshooting for an A/C leak and can’t find it even when using dye or another leak detector, the problem may be at the bulkhead, where the A/C lines attach to the expansion valve.
