Shifty Merc

Some 2011 Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles equipped with a 4R75E transmission may exhibit an un-commanded torque converter clutch (TCC) apply or TCC partial apply immediately after the 1-2 shift.


Hybrid Misdiagnosis

Some 2005-2012 Mercury Mariner hybrid vehicles may exhibit a concern where the engine stalls soon after starting. This may actually be a crank/no-start condition being misdiagnosed due to the unique characteristics of the hybrid powertrain. DTC P0A7D (battery pack state of charge low) and/or P1A0C (engine disabled) may be present.


Gurgle, Gurgle, Toil and Trouble

Some 2010-2012 Ford Fusion (and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan) vehicles equipped with the 2.5L DOHC engine may exhibit an audible noise in the heater core/instrument panel area often described as a gurgle, waterfall or percolator sound. This concern typically occurs on initial engine start 1st throttle tip-in, when the ambient temperature is lower than 50 degrees Fahrenheit.


Funky Idle

This bulletin applies to 2010-2011 Ford Flex, 2010 Edge, MKX, F-150, E-Series Focus, Taurus, MKS, Fusion and MKZ vehicles with any of the following engines: 2.0L. 3.5L (excluding GTDI), 3.7L and 4.6L 2V. Some vehicles may exhibit DTCs P2111, P2112 or the idle speed drops lower than desired and/or fluctuates.


Busted Wheel Stud on Milan

Some 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles built between 12/1/2009 and 10/26/2010 may exhibit a single rear wheel stud fracture. A small number of rear brake rotors may have been manufactured with a wheel mounting face that is not flat, potentially resulting in a stud fracture.


Groovy Hoot

Some 2007-2008 Mercury Mountaineer vehicles equipped with a 5.4L engine may exhibit a Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD)-related high pitch metallic whistle/hoot noise after a cold soak in ambient temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.


Forgot to Tighten

Some Ford Flex and Mercury MKT vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive and built on or before 2-23-2012 may exhibit a metallic ratcheting or flutter type noise during light to moderate tip-in at low vehicle speeds of about 21 mph. The noise may be perceived as originating from the center console area.


Robot Must Have Been Snoozing

Some 2010-2012 Ford Escape (and Mariner) vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine built on or before 9-15-2011 may exhibit an intermittent no-crank, no-start conditions with no DTCs or PATS (passive anti-theft system) indicator flashing.


Confused Ford, muddled Mercury

Some 2011 Milan, Mariner, 2011-2012 Fusion, Escape and MKZ Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a “Service Engine Soon” illumination along with DTC P0016 (crankshaft/camshaf6t position correlation).


Trans tries to wake up, but hits the snooze button

Some 2009-2010 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner and Milan vehicles equipped with a 6F35 transmission may exhibit a harsh 1-2 shift or 2-3 shift flare that occurs on the first couple of shifts of the day, an intermittent harsh first engagement (primarily reverse but occasionally drive), with no DTCs present.
