Musical Seals
Owners of 2009 BMW 128i vehicles may complain of a whistling, hooting or squealing noise from the engine compartment while the engine is running. The noise may be more apparent after the engine has reached operating temperature.
Vehicle Can’t Read Remote Key
This bulletin applies to 2010 BMW 335i xDrive vehicles. The check control message “Remote key not in vehicle” may be output even though the remote key is inside the passenger compartment. Technical limitations may mean that the vehicle fails to identify the ID transmitter (remote key) under certain conditions.
Just Foolin'
This bulletin applies to 2013 BMW 328i models. A warning regarding brake pad wear may be a mistake. The dynamic stability control module (DSC) calculates the brake pad replacement intervals based on information from the front and rear brake pad wear sensors.
BMW Goes Into Failsafe
This bulletin applies to 2010 BMW 335i xDrive vehicles. The transmission may go into failsafe mode, with fault code 4F8D (ratio monitoring, gearshift 5-4 – plausibility) stored in the EGS. The cause is over-sensitive EGS software.
BMW hot seat (or not)
This bulletin applies only to BMW vehicles produced from 8-31-2009 to 2-25-2010, such as the BMW 328i X-Drive, equipped with SA 494 (front seat heating) and SA 534 (integrated automatic air conditioning).
The customer did it
This bulletin applies to 2011 BMW 5-series vehicles, equipped with a USB port. Connecting an external device such as a cell phone, MP3 player, etc., to the USB port in the center console with an aftermarket cable can cause several problems.
BMW HVAC
This bulletin applies to 2010 BMW 328i vehicles. The ribbon cable leading to the heating and air conditioning controls at the control unit for the center console control panel (SZM) may be defective.
