Aftermarket Sales to Drop 8.8% This Year, Rebound in 2021

Total U.S. automotive aftermarket sales are forecast to decrease 8.8% in 2020 as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and related factors, according to the 2020 Joint Channel Forecast Model produced jointly by the Auto Care Association and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association. But a rebound is expected to take place next year.

Senate Passes Paycheck Protection Flexibility Act

The U.S. Senate has passed the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Flexibility Act of 2020, which amends PPP terms in favor of loan recipients. Now headed to President Donald Trump, the bill established a minimum maturity of five years for a loan “with a remaining balance after forgiveness,” according to Auto Care Association officials.

Associations Ask Trump For Import Duty Amnesty

The Auto Care Association and other trade associations are urging President Trump to delay collection of all duties and fees on imports through June 2020. The delay would be retroactive to last month.
