Canyon Pinion Angle

Owners of 2015-2018 GMC Canyon vehicles equipped with a 3.6L engine and 8L45 automatic transmission may comment about a vibration and/or noise heard during hard acceleration at speeds of 48-52 mph. The condition may be caused when the driveline angle gets extreme during axle wind-up, resulting in 2nd order vibration.

GMC DTC Tip

Some owners of 2017-2018 GMC Canyon vehicles may comment on an illuminated MIL. Technicians may find DTC P0171 and/or P0174 set. If you encounter this concern, check for a vacuum leak at the PCV fresh air tube or the foul PCV tube attachment under the air cleaner outlet duct or at the intake manifold.

It Might Not be the Belt

Some owners of 2017-2019 GMC Canyon vehicles equipped with a 3.6L engine may comment that the SES lamp is on or that the engine may have a slight squeak noise coming from the front of the engine belt area.

Chasing the Noise

Owners of 2017-2019 GM vehicles, such as GMC Canyon and Acadia vehicles equipped with a 3.6L engine, may complain about a rattle, tick or knock type noise.

Chevy Recall

General Motors has recalled certain 2018 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles. The high pressure fuel pump may detach from its mounting flange, possibly resulting in the pump damaging the high pressure fuel line, with the possibility of a fire.

This bulletin applies to 2017-2019 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks equipped with a 3.6L engine. Some customers may comment of engine noise or engine failure shortly after an engine oil change and a MIL on.

Might be the Water Pump

This bulletin applies to 2017-2019 GMC Canyon trucks equipped with a 3.6L engine. Some customers may comment that the SES lamp is on or the engine may have a slight noise coming from the front of the engine belt area. Upon investigation, you may find DTC P0324 set in the ECM.

No Whine Worries

This bulletin applies to 2015-2019 GMC Canyon trucks equipped with a MYD automatic transmission. The customer may comment that they hear a high-pitched tone or whine noise with the key on and engine off, or for up to one minute after the engine is shut off.
