Dumb Mistake

Owners of 2013 Chevy Equinox vehicles may comment on an intermittent no-crank issue. The design of the key and fob is to have the key extended straight out of the fob. If the key is not in the fully locked-open position at the fob, and the head of the key is angled down, the engine will not crank.

No crank? No problem

This bulletin applies to Volkswagen Touareg models, when the engine will not crank for no apparent reason.

Stubborn Caddy

This bulletin applies to 2005-2011 Cadillac STS and 2004-2009 XLR models. A no-crank, no-start condition with a driver information center message of “No FOB Detected” can be caused by a low battery state of charge.

Exploring the Glitch

Some 2012-2014 Ford Explorer vehicles equipped with a 2.0L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) engine may exhibit a difficult to start, runs rough, crank-no-start, lack of  power, loss of idle rpm or hesitation concern, with DTC P0106, P0236 or a repeat P0128. These conditions may be caused by a wiring concern in the signal return splice.
