Toyota Tacoma Rear Brakes Need Attention

Some 2017-2019 Toyota Tacoma trucks equipped with the BD20 differential (non-TRD) may exhibit a noise or vibration at the rear of the vehicle at low speeds or while braking. This condition may be caused by excessive clearance between the brake drum and axle drum flange.

Toyota is conducting a recall issue involving 2018-2019 4Runner, Camry, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, Corolla and Avalon. The subject vehicles are equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating.

This bulletin applies to 2016-2019 Toyota Tundra and Tacoma trucks. To help prevent water from entering the truck frame, hole plugs are installed in certain locations during manufacturing. One of the hole plug styles allow water to drain from the bottom of the frame, yet block water from entering.

Cam Sensor Leaks

This bulletin applies to 2017-2018 Toyota Highlander and Sienna, 2018 Camry and 2016-1028 Tacoma models. Some vehicles equipped with a 2GR-FKS 3.5L engine may exhibit an engine oil leak from the cam sensor bolt holes. The flange bolts and the camshaft housings have been changed to address the issue.

Don’t Forget the Breather

Toyota strongly recommends replacing the breather plug whenever servicing any differential/transfer case to prevent possible repeat failures.

Toyota has issued a recall involving certain 2017 Sienna and Tacoma models, 2017 Lexus RX350 models, and 2018 Camry and Highlander vehicles, concerning build dates from October 2017 to November 2017.
