VW PCV Test

This bulletin applies to 2008-2013 Volkswagen Passat sedans, with regard to crankcase breather diagnosis.  The technician may find rough running, engine noise and MIL on with DTCs P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P2279, P1297, P1093 or P2187 stored in the ECM.

VW Test Not Complete?

This bulletin applies to 2010 Volkswagen Passat vehicles equipped with the ESP braking system.  In some cases, the ESP function test may not end on its own, creating a 01486 fault code in the ABS.

Where’s the Steering Angle Sensor?

Some VW Golf, Jetta and Passat vehicles equipped with electromechanical power steering have the G85 steering angle sensor located in the steering rack.

VW Steering Angle

This bulletin applies to 2013 Volkswagen Passat sedan models. It may be noted during a Guided Functions or Vehicle Self Diagnosis scan that address word 04 for the steering angle sensor displays active. A direct communication to the steering angle sensor is not possible through this view.
