Fixing Voltage Problems in Honda Vehicles

This bulletin applies to 2017 Honda Accord V6, 2016-2017 Odyssey, 2016-2017 Pilot and 2017 Ridgeline vehicles. While driving, the customer may experience flickering interior/exterior light, multiple indicators coming on, jerky steering and/or other voltage-related fluctuations.

The possible cause: the B+ sensing screw on the alternator may not be torqued properly.

Disconnect the battery negative cable and battery sensor. Remove the #4 spark plug ignition coil for better access.

Disconnect the alternator connector. Remove the three nuts holding the rear alternator cover and remove the cover.

Remove the rear alternator cover. Torque the B+ sensing screw to 1.5 ft-lb (2 Nm). Do not over-torque the screw.

Reinstall the cover to 3.3 ft-lb ( 4Nm).

Connect the negative battery cable and battery sensor to the negative battery post.
