This bulletin applies to 2010-2017 Chevy Equinox vehicles. The vehicle may exhibit an intermittent pop or multiple popping noises from the rear of the vehicle shortly after a cold start or EVAP purge event.

This condition may be caused by the auxiliary fuel pump in the left side of the fuel tank changing height (spring loaded leg). Note: This only applies to the auxiliary fuel pump module assembly. Replacing the primary fuel pump module would not correct the noise condition.

The technician should be able to duplicate the concern by commanding a purge and seal on the EVAP system using GDS2. As vacuum increases 3-5 inches Hg, the pop noise should be duplicated. To correct the concern, replace the auxiliary fuel pump module.
