Honda offers a tip/reminder regarding an engine short block replacement for 2003-2014 Civic Hybrid, 2011-2014 CR-Z, 2007-2013 Fit and 2010-2014 Insight applications.
The oil pan gasket does not come pre-installed at the factory. For shipping, it is placed in the bottom of the oil pan, loosely tightened without any sealer. Before placing the engine into service, be sure to remove the oil pan, apply the Honda bond and install the gasket, tightening pan fasteners to specification.
Forgetting to do this will result in a notable oil leak at the flywheel end of the engine.
