The engine oil filter adapter design has changed for 2014 and later Volkswagen Routan 3.6L engines. This resulted in a change in the oil filter element. It is important to note that the two different designs are not interchangeable. Failure to install the correct oil filter will result in permanent engine damage.
When replacing the engine oil filter, use only the O-ring included in the filter package. Failure to do so will result in leakage and possible oil filter adapter damage. Also, DTC P06DD will result due to incorrect filter application.
