Fixing Ram Hill Start Assist

This bulletin applies to 2013-2014 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 models, involving an update to the ABS module software. This applies to vehicles built on or before Oct. 15, 2013, and equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes and electronic stability control. wiTECH software level must be at release 14.01 or higher.

The customer may notice the feature to disable hill start assist is missing in the cluster. For vehicles equipped with PTO, this system may not operate intermittently. No DTCs may be found.

Using a scan tool, verify that no DTCs are set. If any DTCs are set, record and repair as needed before reprogramming. Reprogram the ABS module. Using the wiTECH application tun “ABS initialization”. From the ABS View screen, select Misc Functions tab to run the initialization. The flash download may take about eight minutes.
