Tightening Alfa Romeo Brake Pad Sensor

This bulletin applies to 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles built on or before Jan. 31, 2017, and equipped with a 2.0L 280 HP I4 turbo engine or a 2.9L 505 HP V6 twin-turbo engine. The customer may notice either a brake pad wear warning indicator lamp illumination or that the front brake wear sensor harness is disconnected or a rattle from the right and/or left side of the vehicle.

The brake pad wear sensor harness may be loose. Inspect the wear sensor harness grommets and secure the harnesses to adjacent brackets. Note: if the vehicle features AWD, leave the right side grommet disconnected from the metal bracket. Failure to leave the right side grommet disconnected may result in damage to the wire harness once the repair is completed.

Locate the brake pad wear sensor harness and inspect the grommet position. The grommet should be positioned between the two sets of tape on the wire harness.

For AWD vehicles, right side only, remove the grommet from the bracket if it’s not already disconnected, and leave it disconnected. Remove the grommet from the left side bracket and wrap tape building up tape thickness on the wire harness and install the grommet onto the bracket. For RWD vehicles, disconnect the grommet from the bracket, wrap thick tape onto the wire harness and install the grommet onto the bracket.

Using a zip tie P/N 06106188AA, secure the harness to the metal caliper bracket.
