Mazda Fuel Tank Insulator

Some 2010-2015 Mazda CX-9 vehicles produced before April 1, 2015, may exhibit an unusual noise while driving. The noise may be caused by a broken fuel tank insulator that is hanging down and contacting the propeller shaft.

The rivets may break when a load occurs. The rivet material has been changed to eliminate this concern. Raise the vehicle on a hoist and inspect the insulator for damage at the rivets. Remove the pre-silencer from the vehicle. Remove and discard the insulator from the fuel tank.

Install the new insulator with modified rivets. Re-install the pre-silencer. On 4WD models, re-connect the propeller shaft to the differential.
