This bulletin applies to 2014-2016 Kia Soul, 2015-2016 Forte with GDI and 2014-2015 Sorento vehicles. Customers may experience an intermittent lack of power or hesitation upon acceleration. The MIL might not illuminate or DTC P0087 (fuel rail/system pressure too low) may be stored in history. This is possibly due to a restricted low pressure fuel line.
Begin by checking the fuel pressure at the low pressure fuel pump outlet line in the fuel tank using a fuel gauge kit P/N FPG2200. The gauge should display above the PSI shown in the table below if the low pressure fuel pump functions properly.

When the lack of power/hesitation occurs and the fuel pressure at the fuel tank is within specification, disconnect the fuel pressure gauge from the low pressure pump and connect it at the high pressure fuel feed line. If two pressure gauges are used at the same time, pressures should be equal.
When the lack of power/hesitation occurs and the gauge drops below the PSI specification, the fuel feed line from the low pressure pump to the high pressure pump may be restricted. Replace the low pressure fuel line from the tank to the high pressure pump.
