This bulletin applies to 2018 BMW 2-Series coupe and convertible, 3-Series sedan and sports wagon, 4-Series Coupe, convertible, Gran Coupe and Gran Turismo, 7-Series Sedan, 5-Series Sedan and 6-Series Gran Turismo, all with B46, B58 and XB1H engines.
The vehicle may run rough or hesitate when accelerating from a stationary position. DTC FC 21A02D may be stored in DME fault memory (combustion control: valve lift correction when at idle).
This is due to a software error in the DME (digital motor electronics). If other faults are stored, address those concerns first.
Do not replace any parts to specifically address FC 21A02D. Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.10.20 or higher to integration level 18-03-520 or higher.
