VW Models May Run Rough at Idle

Aug. 10, 2020

This bulletin applies to 2016-2017 Volkswagen CC, and Tiguan equipped with a 2.0L engine. The MIL may be on and DTC P0011 (camshaft position Bank 1 timing over-advanced or system performance)  and/or P0016 (crankshaft position-camshaft position correlation Bank 1 Sensor A) may be stored, and the engine may run rough at idle.

Wear of the camshaft bearing bridge can cause axial movement of the camshaft, resulting in the stored DTCs. Remove the camshaft bearing bridge according to the repair manual. Check the bearing bridge (camshaft side) for damage such as a groove in the bearing surface or lip protruding from the bearing surface. If the bridge is damaged, replace it, and be sure to change the engine oil and filter.
